Majeski Races to Victory Lane in Triple Crown Challenge at Madison

Ty Majeski won the first round of the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge while Ryan Golade swept the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman and Kyle Stark took the checkered flag in the Vores Compact Touring Series.

Majeski Wins Round One

Ty Majeski topped a twenty-five car field to earn his first-ever feature win at Madison International Speedway.

Bobby Kendall and Dan Lensing brought the field to the green flag with the caution flag coming out before a lap could be completed when debris was spotted on the backstretch. When the race went green it would be Kendall taking the top spot for the first laps before being overtaken by Lensing just before the caution flag waved on lap 5 for a spin in turn three.

Lensing was able to maintain the lead, but it was Jeremy Miller who was making the most noise as he passed Kendall for second on lap 7 and then moved his way inside of Lensing coming out of turn three to take the lead.

On lap 12, Paul Shafer Jr. was up to second behind Miller and ahead of Lensing with Majeski up to fourth. One lap later, Shafer Jr. fell off the pace which allowed Majeski to move up to second. Another caution came out on lap 18 for a spin thus setting up another restart.

Miller was able to maintain his lead but only until lap 21 when Majeski powered his way to the front coming out of turn four. Majeski quickly built up a sizeable lead over Miller until the caution came out on lap 27 when Steve Rubeck made contact with the backstretch wall.

Majeski was once again unstoppable on the restart as he jumped out to a multi-car length advantage over Shafer Jr. who had passed Miller after the green. The caution flag came out for the final time on lap 37 for a spin.

The car involved in the spin, Jeff Storm, was able to get his position back and chose the outside line on the restart. Majeski was simply too strong as he powered his way to a big lead with Shafer Jr. in second and Storm up to third. The race would stay green the rest of the way and nobody could catch the speedy Majeski. Shafer Jr. finished second followed by Storm, Miller, and Dave Feiler. Rounding out the top ten were Lensing, Dalton Zehr, Travis Dassow, Brandon Hill, and Ryan Farrell.

“This is great to win for the first time at Madison,” said Majeski from victory lane. “This car was great tonight.”

Runner up Shafer Jr.added, “We ran well tonight. This was definitely our best finish here at Madison.”

Storm was happy his luck at Madison changed tonight. “We’ve had some tough breaks here so I’m very happy tonight.”

Majeski set fast time with a lap of 17.372 while Miller won the B and B Lawncare Dash. Heat races were won by John Beale, Dale Nottestad, and Nathan Haseleu.

Four in a Row for Ryan Goldade

It was a clean sweep for Ryan Goldade in the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman tonight as he picked up his fourth straight win in the division.
Matt Lundberg took the early lead only to see the caution flag come out on lap 2. After the restart Robert Hansberry was the fastest car with Goldade quickly up to second after passing Johnny Robinson.

Hansberry maintained his lead until lap 11 when Goldade worked his way to his inside coming out of turn four to take the lead. The caution came out on lap 14 for a spin, but that was no deterrent to Goldade who quickly jumped out to a five car length advantage and never looked back. Hansberry finished second followed by Mike Taylor, Lundberg, and Robinson.

Goldade set fast time with a lap of 20.405 and won both the Dash and the heat race.

“This car is just awesome. I have to thank my guys for all of their work,” said Goldade in a post race interview.

Kyle Stark Tops Vores Series

Kyle Stark won the 30 lap feature for the four cylinder Vores Compact Touring Series.

Things got off to a rough start for Stark as he made contact with a car that had slowed on the opening lap and was forced to the pits for repairs. The lengthy caution gave Stark some time for repairs and by lap 3 he was already back to the top five.

Devon Dixon took the early lead and held it for the first seven laps until being forced up the track on lap 8 with Stark, Dan Irvin, and John Handeland moving past him.

From there it was all Stark who adeptly moved his way inside and outside, two wide and three wide through the field. The best race on the track was for second where Irvin and Handeland took turns trading places until Irvin pulled to the infield on lap 20 ending his night.

It appeared that only a caution flag could slow down Stark, but it didn’t happen as he cruised to victory lane. Handeland would win the battle for second place followed by Phil Malouf, Ryan Hoffman, and Merek Pankow.

“It’s a lot of fun out on the half-mile,” said Stark from victory. “But starts and restarts can get pretty interesting.”

Stark set fast time with a circuit of 22.104 with heat race wins going to David Schmidt and Irvin.

Racing continues on Friday, June 12th for Oregon Chamber of Commerce Night with the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models, American Ethanol Super Trucks, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits, Legends and Bandoleros. Practice begins at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 7:30.
