Goldade Wins Two plus Ace, DeLacy, and Stark Also Winners

Casey Johnson won the feature for the Club LaMark NASCAR Late Models and took home the $1000 prize for winning.  Ryan Goldade won two features tonight by capturing the first race for the American Ethanol Super Trucks and in the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman.  Chester Ace was also a winner in the Trucks along with Brandon DeLacy in the Bandits and Karter Stark in the Bandoleros.

All this took place as part of Fan Appreciation and Buck Night in front of a large crowd on a great night for racing.

Johnson Edges  Majeski for Late Model Checkered Flag

Casey Johnson took the lead on lap 4 and held off Ty Majeski to win the 30 lap feature for the Club LaMark NASCAR Late Models.

John Baumeister Jr. and Kevin Knuese brought the twenty car field to the green flag.  Baumeister Jr. took the early, but it was Bobby Wilberg taking the lead on the second lap with Casey Johnson and Ty Majeski right behind him.  On lap 4 both Johnson and Majeski moved by Wilberg on the backstretch to take the top two positions.

The first caution flag came out on lap 6 for a spin that occurred deep in the field.

Johnson continued to lead after the restart followed closely by Majeski.  On lap 13 Majeski worked to the inside of Johnson to take the lead coming out of turn two, but Johnson was not about to give it up as he took the top spot back one lap later.

The second caution flag of the night came out on lap 16 when a car spun on the backstretch.

Johnson brought the field back to green followed by Majeski and Brady Liddle in the second row with Wilberg and Knuese in the third row.  Johnson and Majeski wasted no time getting back out in front of the field with Wilberg now a distant third.  The caution flag waved again on lap 19  when the cars of Hunter Drefahl and Pat Richgels tangled in turn two.

This time on the restart Johnson was able to build a car length lead over Majeski with Wilberg, Liddle, and Baumeister Jr. rounding out the top five.  As the race progressed Johnson was able to extend his lead to two car lengths and race his way to victory lane.  Completing the top five were Wilberg, Liddle, and Brent Edmunds.

“We (Johnson and Majeski) were racing pretty hard early. Things worked out great tonight, the car was good,” said Johnson from victory lane.

Fast qualifier was Casey Johnson with a lap of 18.475 (97.429 mph) who also won the RA Heating and Air Conditioning Dash.  Heat races were won by Hunter Drefahl, Jon Reynolds Jr., and Ty Majeski.

Goldade Cruises to Sportsman Win

Ryan Goldade won the 20 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman.

Gary Hellenbrand took the early lead and held it for the first two laps before Goldade powered by to take the point.  On lap 4 Steve Anderson moved to the outside of Hellenbrand for second but was unable to make the pass.  Two laps later Anderson powered his way to the inside to take second followed closely by Robert Hansberry Jr.

Out front Goldade had a huge lead over the field while Anderson and Hansberry Jr. were battling it out for second.  Hansberry Jr. won that fight on lap 9, but he had a long way to go to catch the leader.

The rest of the way Goldade worked his way around lapped traffic and cruised to victory lane.  Hansberry Jr. finished second followed by Anderson, Mike Taylor, and Trevor Robinson.

The victory puts Goldade on top of the Sportsman all-time feature win list.

Ryan Goldade was fast qualifier with a lap of 19.900 (90.452 mph) and picked up the win in the RA Heating and Air Conditioning Dash.  Heat races were won by Johnny Robinson II and Robert Hansberry Jr.

Brandon DeLacy Back in Victory Lane

Brandon DeLacy won the 20 lap feature for the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.

Dan Snyder took the early lead in the sixteen car feature followed by Lyle Phillips, James Junget, and Brandon DeLacy.  After two laps the caution flag came out for a spin.

When the green flag waved Snyder continued to lead.  On lap 5 DeLacy moved past Phillips for the second position.  On lap 9 DeLacy powered his way to the inside of Snyder to take the lead with Steve Dickson up to second one lap later.

On lap 12 the leaders caught the tail end of the field and began to work their way in and around the slower traffic.  DeLacy did a great job maneuvering through traffic and built up a solid lead over Dickson.  From that point on there was no stopping DeLacy who picked up the checkered flag followed by Dickson, Snyder, Junget, and Ryan Ostenson.

“I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I caught the lapped traffic.  I was hoping to get a top five since there’s a lot of fast cars,” said DeLacy.

In qualifying Brandon DeLacy set fast time with a lap of 14.940.  Steve Dickson won the RA Heating and Air Conditioning Dash. Cade Watters and Dickson won the heat races.

Goldade and Ace Notch Truck Victories

Ryan Goldade and Chester Ace each won a 20 lap feature for the American Ethanol Super Trucks.

Rick Corso and Dave Edwards started on the front row for the first feature event. Corso jumped out to the early lead while Nick Egan and Edwards raced side by side for second while Chester Ace and Ryan Goldade were fighting it out for third and fourth.

Edwards was able to break free from the pack and cut Corso’s lead to two truck lengths with eight laps to go and shortened that to just one length at the half-way point.

Corso was able to keep his advantage over Edwards, but it was Goldade who had the fastest truck on the track as he moved up to challenge Edwards for second and took the position on lap 17.  Now he was ready to take on Corso for the lead and worked his way to the outside and made the winning pass on the final lap coming out of turn four and winning the drag race down the front shoot.

“Everybody tells me these trucks are fun and they’re right,” said Goldade who was making his truck racing debut.

Chester Ace won the second 20 lap feature for the Super Trucks.

In the second feature Chester Ace took the lead from the start jumping out to a six truck length lead after two laps.  Ross Christiansen ran second for the first six laps before surrendering the position to Goldade.

At the half-way mark, Ace’s lead over Goldade was down to one second, but the two were running almost identical lap times.  Goldade was able to close the gap to .5 seconds with five laps to go and was quickly closing in on Ace.  With one lap to go the lead was down to less than two truck lengths, but Goldade slipped coming out of turn two allowing Ace to maintain his lead and pick up the win.

“We made some changes and got better for the second race,” said Ace.

Chester Ace was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 18.621 (96.665 mph).

Karter Stark Picks Up Bandolero Checkered Flag

Eight year old Karter Stark won the ten lap feature for the Bandoleros.

Chase Wangsness and Emma Hunstiger brought the field to the green flag for their ten lap feature race.  Hunstiger quickly jumped out to the lead followed by Anna Malouf and Wangsness before the caution flag waved on lap 2 for a spin.

On the restart Hunstiger maintained her lead with Karter Stark quickly up to second.  On lap 7 Stark made his move on the front stretch and took the lead from Hunstiger and appeared to build a solid lead only to be slowed by lapped traffic.  But in the end Stark was able to hold off Hunstiger for the win.

Stark also won the six lap heat race.

Racing continues on Friday, September 2nd when Whelen Engineering presents NASCAR Season Championship Night highlighted by Twin Features for the Club LaMark NASCAR Late Models, Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, and Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.  Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15, and racing at 7:30.
