Buck Night is Back on July 31st

Story Image

The much-anticipated “Buck Night” is back this Friday with concessions (food / drink) priced at just $1.00. That’s right…one buck! Our first “buck” night earlier this season was a big hit so make plans to come out this Friday night.

Racing action will take place in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models, Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits, and the Midwest Trucks. Plus there will be a “Tough Truck Tug of War” and the first-ever Figure 8 race.

Fans a chance for you to be part of the action. Who has the toughest truck? You can enter your truck in the “Tough Truck Tug of War” by registering at the pit gate.

Practice begins at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:20 and racing at 7:30.

Current point leaders include Zack Riddle in the Late Models, Ryan Goldade in the Sportsman, and Dan Snyder in the Bandits.

After Jeremy Miller was unable to start the feature and Dale Nottestad left the race early, Zack Riddle became the new point leader in the Late Model division. He has a 521-511 lead over Nottestad with Miller dropping to third with 446 points.

Defending champion Ryan Goldade continues to lead the points race in the Sportsman with a 647-622 advantage over Robert Hansberry. Mike Taylor, Steve Anderson, and Matt Lundberg round out the top five.

In the Bandits, last year’s champion Dan Snyder shows the way with 684 points. Brandon DeLacy and Nick Schmidt are in a tight battle for second place (608-606) with Steve Dickson and Dave Schmidt completing the top five.

Friday Night Rewind

Congratulations to our winners from the past Friday night: Dave Trute and Jason Thoma in the Great Northern Sportsman Series, Dustin Ward in the Hobby Stox, Kelly Evink in the Midwest Dash Series, and Jed Buchholz in the 6Shooters. We’d like to thank everyone who came to race with us on Friday night.

Our young fans even had an opportunity to go on track with bike races during intermission as part of Kids’ Night at MIS.

Calling All 6Shooters

There are still opportunities for any race fan to be part of the racing program at Madison. The 6Shooter division was designed to be a true entry level racing division where new drivers can enter the sport without spending a lot of money.

The #77 car driven this season by Jacob Sam and Jed Buchholz was put together in less than a week and with a total cost of less than $500. Neither driver had any previous racing experience which is a requirement for this division.

We want to get more people involved in the sport, and this is a great way to be able to be part of the action.

“It’s a lot of fun,” said Buchholz. “I’ve never raced before or had even sat in a race car. It’s been a blast and I encourage anyone thinking about racing to give it a try.”

Rules / guidelines are available at our website at misracing.com.

Hall of Fame Class of 2015

It’s time now to nominate individuals for our next class of the MIS Hall of Fame. The nominations will remain open until August 21st with winners announced on September 4th.

Here is the link to make your nomination: misracing.com/mis-hall-of-fame-nomination-form/

There are so many worthy individuals for the Hall of Fame we are really looking for your suggestions. Remember it can be drivers, owners / promoters, track officials, car owners, etc. Our website does have listing of past track champions and all-time feature winners. However, the information is far from complete as we have very little from support divisions in the seventies and eighties and not many records prior to 1969. This is where we need your help.
