Blue Skies for the Green Flag on Sunday at Madison

Despite the persistent light showers that put an end to any hopes for practice today at Madison International Speedway, a sunny and warmer day is on the way for Sunday’s Joe Shear Classic featuring the ARCA Midwest Tour.

The traditional season opener at Madison will feature some of the top drivers from five states as they battle it out on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile. This year’s race is the eighth annual event which honors Joe Shear who earned four track championships and sixty-six feature wins at Madison. Last year’s race was won by Johnny Sauter.

The Midwest Truck Series and Mid American Stock Car Series will also be in action. Pit gates for Sunday’s race open at 9:30 AM with the grandstands opening at 11:30 AM. Practice begins at 11:30 AM with qualifying at 12:45 PM and racing at 2:00 PM. An autograph session for the Midwest Tour drivers will take place in the grandstand area following qualifying.
